Annual Stuart Bands End of the Year Picnic!
Tuesday, May 27, 6:30 PM
The Terhunes: 3324 Holloman Road, Falls Church

Please bring the following:
Last names A-G: chips/appetizers to share
H-R: fruit or fruit salad to share
S-Z: dessert to share
(All other food will be provided by the Stuart Band Boosters.)

ALL Stuart Band members and their families are invited!

Jazz Band - one more performance -
        performance at Senior Night - Thur 5/29 - call time 6 PM
                (sorry for the late notice - please let me know asap if you have a problem attending.)

Graduation Band - (Concert Band AND Wind Ensemble students)
        rehearsal: 2:20-3:50, Thursday 5/22 (with seniors until 3:00ish)
        performance: Tuesday 6/3, call time (no seniors) 2:30 PM, ceremony begins 4:00 PM. 
                (PARENTS: please get in touch with me IMMEDIATELY if your student will have a problem attending.)

Concert Band: auditions for next year - in class, Friday 5/23.  (Plus later dates if necessary.)

Nine Weeks Projects…need to be completed by your class final exam date.  (Seniors?)

Final Exams WILL occur for every class, during the allocated time.  More information to come in class.

MARCHING RAIDERS 2008: The packet of information regarding the Stuart Marching Raiders 2008 season will be out in the near future.  Please pay particular attention to the payment deadline for the "early registration" discount.  IMPORTANT: The Band Weeks August 4-8 and 11-15 are required for all members of the marching band. This two-week period is absolutely critical.  If you have a problem or conflict with any time during that period, please do three things: first, do everything you can to get out of it!  Doctor's appointments, for example, should be rescheduled so they do not conflict.  Second, make sure you get in touch with me.  Third, please attend the quasi-optional rehearsals in July - we schedule them to deal with just this issue.  (Dates and times for those rehearsals will be in the marching band packet.)  These July rehearsals will help us a great deal once August rolls around.

~If you are interested in attending the Drum Corps show in Fauquier July 30, make sure you let me know by July 1.  (Alums, parents, etc. all very much invited!)

~Marching band percussion auditions: Wed May 28, 6:30-8:00.  See Mr. Martin for an audition packet.

~Student leadership applications for marching band will be going out soon.

I'm so excited for next year's marching show!  The music is FANTASTIC, and the drill ideas are phenomenal too.  I think it'll be another great season for the Marching Raiders, and I hope you'll all be a part of it.

Finally, a tentative calendar for next year is here.  Remember: tentative!  There will be a copy in the marching band packet as well.
